Welcome Back to Hampshire Explorer!
Hi everyone,
Welcome back to Hampshire Explorer! I apologise for the recent silence, I’ve been so busy visiting new places to share with you. But I’m back, and I’m thrilled to share that there's so much happening around Hampshire right now.
Let’s dive straight in and explore all the exciting events, places to visit, and offers waiting for you this summer!
A PLACE TO VISIT
Why I Think Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Should Be Your Next Family Adventure
Friends have been recommending Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for years, but somehow, it just never made it to the top of our list. You know how it goes - life gets busy, and all those grand plans of exploring historical sites fall by the wayside. But last month, we took the plunge and spent a day there. Spoiler alert: I found myself thinking, "Why on earth haven't we done this sooner?"
The dockyard is like a treasure chest of naval history, just bursting with fascinating exhibits and activities. Seriously, there’s so much to do that we couldn’t fit it all into one day. If you’re like me and had no idea how much there was to see and do, prepare to be pleasantly overwhelmed.
This photo of the remains of the Mary Rose does not do it justice. What an incredible place.
There’s so much to do!
We're already planning our next trip, so we can see everything we missed.
Fortunately, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard offers an option that’s perfect for repeat visits – the Ultimate Explorer ticket. This ticket gives you unlimited access to all attractions for an entire year, making it incredible value for money. Here’s what’s included:
The Mary Rose Museum
HMS Victory
HMS Warrior
HMS M.33
NMRN Galleries
Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower
Royal Navy Submarine Museum
Action Stations
Harbour Tours
Boathouse 4
Dockyard Apprentice
Plus, the waterbus rides are included, making it super convenient to get around and see everything the dockyard offers (this was one of my favourite things).
The Ultimate Explorer ticket is not just a great deal but also cheaper when you book in advance online. So, if you’re planning your visit, I highly recommend this ticket – it ensures you won't miss out on any of the amazing experiences at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. And with unlimited access, you can keep coming back to discover new things and revisit your favourites all year round.
WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO
Exploring the Charm of Beaulieu Village
Last week I had a wander around Beaulieu Village, it’s a lovely place to explore.
We spent some time enjoying the scenic views, grabbing a bite at The Beaulieu Bakehouse, and strolling down the high street. We made a stop at the Beaulieu Chocolate Studio for some delicious ice cream (we'll definitely be back for their chocolates too).
If you have kids with you, there's a little village play park to enjoy, and the green opposite is available for use outside of school hours.
There's also a beautiful walk starting from the village centre along the Beaulieu River, ending at Buckler’s Hard. It’s a stunning route, full of wonderful wildlife and great views.

A PLACE TO HAVE A TREAT
Have You Tried This Delightful Hampshire Bakery?
Last week, I enjoyed a coffee and cake at Hoxton Bakehouse in Winchester.
If you enjoy baked goods and good coffee, you should check this place out. Their tagline is "made with love by hand," and it really shows. Even my Mum, who is quite picky about her coffee, said their Seadog coffee was excellent.
Not only do they bake everything by hand, but they also stock a range of local products made right here in Hampshire.
They offer a variety of handmade items, including sourdough loaves, cinnamon buns, and Viennoiserie pastries.
Also, the staff were lovely and really enthusiastic about the products.
If Winchester isn't convenient, they have other locations in Lymington, Petersfield, Stockbridge, Bishops Waltham, Chichester and Southampton (which is a pop-up bakery on Saturdays from 8-12 on the Millbrook Estate). It's definitely worth a visit!
I really hope you enjoyed this edition of Hampshire Explorer. However, I would love to know what you would like to hear about. What’s your favourite part of the newsletter, and is anything missing that should be added? Reply to this email, I would love to know what you think.
